CRI testing

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about the CRI equipment and chemical testing programs.

Should the CRI also certify or approve of only certified techs doing work on carpets with a warranty?

  • I was a CRI approved cleaning company for a few years.
I liked the logo on my trucks but thats almost all it did for me.
I like the testing for chemicals most.
So much crap out there when it comes to villainous soapy residues.
I think thats what the program is really all about.Forcing the hands of the manufacturers to make the detergents, spotters and presprays more "carpet-friendly". I hope so anyways. I don't smell the "follow the money" scent with these people anyways.

  • It will be put into force, everyone will get nervous and then it will die off just like other programs like this. Chris.

  • Its all garbage. There will be a lot of hype and talk and then nothing. The carpet makers won;'t have the influence.

  • I don't mindit. I'm a certfied tech, so it will only help my business if this happens.

  • The concept of testing the effectiveness of chemiclas is good. The executionis lacking. The testing for cleaners was decided upon by carpet manufacturers. Input from actual cleaners and manufacturers of cleaning products would have been helpful.

For example - the testing is done on clean carpets. Many ingredients in cleaning agents are design to bind with soil. If there is not soil present when they are applied they become a residue. They would not have been a residue if soil had been present. This is similar to the reuslt a cleaner would get from over using chemical instead of applying it properly.

There are dozens of other variables that were not considered. Hopefully these factors will not be overlooked in the rush to meet a deadline (was is Sept 12th?) to have the program running and coordinat with NASA marketing.

  • I thought the carpets they used for this testing was soiled. Doesn't the CRI have a testing lab that soils up the carpets and uses real dirt?
