Forced to clean with cold water?

As many of you have heard, New York state is trying to force cold water cleaning in schools, both public and private.

What do you think? How do you feel when those who write or promote these standards have never been involved in the cleaning industry?

Here's a short article I put together on the topic:

Shaw to use only IICRC Certified Firms

During the past month I have received probably two dozen or so e-mails from irate cleaners - cleaners upset that Shaw has decided in January 2008 to approve only IICRC Certified Firms for cleaning warranted residential carpets.

What do you think? Do you think it is smart for Shaw to make this decision? Do you think there will be enough Certified Firms to do the work - if each consumer followed the warranty guidelines?

Or do you think, like some, that this move will fade into the background eventually?

Let's start a discussion.

What's most important to you?

If you had to choose just one or two things you would like to see different in the carpet and furniture cleaning industry, what would it be?

Would it be better education?

Perhaps innovative tools?

The Great Debate

We've had almost 1700 votes so far in the Great Debate for July.

I'd like to know your thoughts such as if you were to write on this topic yourself. Go take a quick read and come back and post. Don't hesitate to give a "strong" opinion!

CRI testing

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about the CRI equipment and chemical testing programs.

Should the CRI also certify or approve of only certified techs doing work on carpets with a warranty?
